Chairman of 7th Pay Commission Justice A K Mathur has said the recommendations of the seventh commission are well within the financial resources of the central government. In an exclusive interview to All India Radio, Justice Mathur said the Commission was mindful of market forces and inflation while preparing the report. He added that the Commission has tried to rationalize both these aspects so that the wage bill does not go beyond the financial resources.<br/><br/>In reply to a question on the issue of OROP, Justice Mathur said Commission's recommendations on OROP to defence and paramilitary forces are aimed at attracting young talent. He added, defence personnel are serving in difficult conditions and they should be remunerated properly. <br/><br/>On parity between private and government sector Mr Mathur said ,the government servants at the middle level are better paid than their counterparts in private sectors. However he said, the same is not true at higher levels. He said it is impossible to match private sector and the Commission has chosen rational path in this regard.
