The Food and Agriculture Minister Mr. Sharad Pawar has urged the State Governments to help the Centre to keep the rising prices under control. Addressing the national convention of his party NCP in New Dehi today, Mr Pawar said, although the soaring prices is a global phenomenon, the Government is making determined efforts to contain the prices of food grains and essential commodities. He admitted that unprecedented rise in prices of essential commodities has affected the people seriously. He said, while the Government is taking substantial burden of subsidy, some States are coming forward to provide cereals and pulses at affordable rates. Dwelling at length on the farm sector, Mr. Pawar said, the country had to face the problem of drought due to deficient monsoon affecting 312 districts in 12 states . He said the government has made all possible efforts and brought down the inflation on single digit in spite of global recession.
