Pawar to inaugurate Agriculture, Food & Civil Supply Ministers Conference at Jaipur

A two-day conference of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Food and Civil supply Ministers of 11 states will begun in Jaipur today. Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar will inaugrate the conference. Policies regarding Rabi crop, farmers welfare and improvement in public distribution system are likely to dominate the agenda of the conference.AIR correspondent Anurag Vajpayi reports from Jaipur that Agriculture, Animal husbandry and Food and civil Supply Ministers of Rajasthan, Bihar, UP, MP, West Bengal, Gujarat, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Punjab and Maharashtra would participate in the conference. All these states are major Wheat and Rice productive and availability of fertilizers, electricity and seeds would be reviewed in the conference. Ministers would also discuss different schemes about welfare of farmers. Procurement of wheat and bajra on support price is another issue which may be raised by some states. On Monday Rajasthan CM Mr. Ashok Gehlot met with Mr. Sharad Pawar and demanded that quick decision is required for the procurement of Bazra through FCI. Because due to good monsoon production of 45 million tones of Bazra is expected this year. Due to the bumper production this year the market price of Bazra is Rs. 700 to 750 per quintal while the minimum support price is Rs. 880 per quintal. In the conference, ministers would also review and discuss about improvement in public distribution system.
