Patel quota stir: Normalcy returns to Mehsana, other areas; Govt panel meets

In Gujarat, situation in violence hit Mehsana and other areas of the state has returned to normal. Authorities have restored mobile and internet services this morning. District Administration in Mehsana, Ahmedabad and Surat have withdrawn prohibitory orders under section 144. <br/>Meanwhile, a state level committee of 7 ministers, formed to negotiate with the quota agitators held a meeting with leaders of the Patel community in Gandhinagar. Official sources said the meeting was fruitful and another round of talks will be held soon.<br/><br/> Baring sporadic incidents, the Gujarat bandh call on Monday given by Patidar organizations was by and large remained peaceful. Some miscreants had tried to torch the empty house of state Home Minister Rajnikant Patel in Visnagar town of Mehsana, however police disperse the mob by bursting teargas shells and control the fire. Police has booked more than 5 thousand persons from various parts of the state including Sardar Patel Group leader Lalji Patel for charges of attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy.
