Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has asked Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) to increase its logistic operations for efficient storage of agricultural produce. He said the CWC should become leading third party logistic company to make supply chain efficient, economic and to reduce the wastage. Mr. Paswan said this while receiving the dividend check for 2014-15 from CWC. <br/><br/>The corporation achieved yet another record turnover of 1562 crore rupees during 2014-15 as against 1528 crore rupees achieved during the preceding year. Keeping in view the national priority for safer preservation of foodgrains procured for Central Pool utilization of capacity for storage of foodgrains was given adequate attention. <br/><br/> During the current financial year, CWC has planned to construct storage capacity of about 1.66 lakh MT with a financial outlay of 181 crore rupees. It also plans to commence operations of Private Freight Terminals at its rail-based facilities at Bamanheri in UP and Nabha in Punjab.
