Passengers suffer as Gujjar agitators intensify stir

In Rajasthan, rail connectivity with Jaipur was cut off after Gujjar agitators blocked Jaipur-Mumbai section near Tonk this evening. Earlier this morning, Ajmer-Ratlam and Ajmer-Udaipur rail tracks were blocked by protestors. Operation of more than hundred trains has been badly affected. Thousands of passengers are stranded at different railway stations. The Gujjar agitators have also jammed the Jaipur-Agra national highway by staging dharna at Patoli in Dausa district. The state government has sent three senior Principal Secretary level officers to Bayana to initiate talks with Gujjar leader Col. Kirodi Singh Bainsla. Some Gujjar leaders from Congress party also met the Chief Minister in Jaipur today and suggested to him to submit the quantifiable data justifying reservation to Special Backward Classes within three months in the High Court. This move is being seen as an effort to end the deadlock between the government and Gujjar leaders.
