In Nepal, with only three days for the current deadline of the Constituent Assembly to expire, the major political parties have intensified talks and discussions. The ruling Parties CPN-UML, UPCN (Maoist) and the Opposition Congress are to hold crucial talks today for the extension of the constituent Assembly. Meanwhile the ruling parties the CPN- UML and UCPN (Maoist) are holding bilateral discussions on the outskirts of Kathmandu before holding talks with the Opposition Nepali Congress. The leaders of the three parties are to discuss the extension of the Constituent Assembly and the ten point preconditions put forward by the Nepali Congress for support to extend the Constituent Assembly. These include the resignation of the Jhala Nath Khanal led government, laying down of arms by the Maoists, to back the government's move to extend the term of the Constituent Assembly for another year. The other preconditions include, agreement on the modalities for managing their combatants and formation of a national consensus government. A Joint Task force was formed between the UCPN (Maoist) and Congress on Tuesday to iron out differences between the two parties. The Ruling coalition has registered a bill in the Constituent Assembly for extending the of the interim Assembly but has not been able to take up the bill as the Nepali Congress and other political parties have remained firm on the preconditions set by the Congress. The Ruling coalition has the support of 380 members in the 601Constituent Assembly while the Nepali Congress has 191. The Ruling coalition had suffered a jolt when a major partner Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum Nepal with 25 members split on Monday with new party Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum Republic took 13 members.
