Parties continue negotiations on seat sharing in Puducherry

In Puducherry, even as election authorities on Sunday scrutinize the nomination papers of the 374 candidates who have filed their nomination in 30 constituencies, political parties are continuing negotiations on seat sharing. Senior Congress leader and Union Minister V. Narayanswamy told mediapersons that talks between the Congress and the PMK are on to finalise the number of seats. He said the Congress high comand is in touch with PMK leadership and a decision would be known soon.’AIR correspondent reports that while the PMK was given two seats in the Congress led alliance, a Congress candidate and PMK candidate filed their papers at Mannadipet, a constituency given to the PMK.’The AIADMK on Sunday entered into a poll pact with the DMDK and CPI allotting one seat each. The AIADMK has already reached an understanding with the All India NR Congrss.
