The Parsi families in Mumbai celebrated the Zoroastrian New Year 'Navroz' with great enthusiasm and fervor. They thronged the Agiyary and sought blessings for the year ahead. All Parsis, young and old, wearing new clothes gave gifts to each other. While some Parsis decided to enjoy homemade feasts, some others thronged various famous restaurants in Mumbai to enjoy their special Navroz menu. Homes were decorated with garlands and Rangoli to welcome the new year in a warm and pleasant way. According to a legend, 3000 years ago Shah Jamshed of the Peshadian dynasty ascended the throne on the Navroz day. ‘Nav’ means new and ‘roze’means day.
