The government has called an all party meet in New Delhi today on the eve of the winter session of Parliament. The meeting will see as an attempt of the BJP to garner support from other parties on the various bills pending in the parliament. However the Trinamool Congress is likely to skip the all party meet. TMC's Rajya Sabha member Derek O'Brien said TMC will skip the all-party meet, saying that it was called on a short notice.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan yesterday convened an all party meeting to ensure smooth functioning of the Winter Session beginning from tomorrow. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu, Congress leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, NCP leader Tariq Anwar, Union Minister and LJP Chief Ram Vilas Paswan and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy among others.
Our correspondent reports, the BJP-led NDA government does not have a majority in the Rajya Sabha and will have to depend upon the cooperation of the Opposition to get key bills passed. The session is scheduled to end on 23rd of next month.
