Parliament’s Monsoon Session begins on Monday. 32 new bills including the draft Lokpal, Land Acquisition, Food Security, the Benami Transactions and the Mines and Minerals are scheduled to be introduced in the session apart from discussion on major developments including India-Pakistan Foreign Minister level talks.The session is likely to continue for about six weeks. The fate women reservation bill is still not clear as no political consensus among the parties has emerged on the issue. Speaker convened two meetings on the bill already approved by the Rajya Sabha. The Opposition has planned to raise issues like inflation, Internal security, Telangana, rail accidents and Maoist violence in the session. With adament opposition, it remains to be seen how far the government achieves success in getting the legislations passed.
