Parliamentary panel urges govt to maintain continuity in carrying out counter terrorism operation policy along LoC

A Parliamentary panel urged the government to maintain continuity in carrying out a limited counter terrorism operation policy along the LoC.

The Committee on External Affairs, headed by Dr Shashi Tharoor today presented its report on Indo-Pak Relations in Parliament.

The Committee felt that by carrying out these operations, the Army has effectively raised the cost of using terrorism on Indian territory and placed the onus on Pakistan to act, rather than on India to observe restraint.

The Committee also complemented the government for its intense diplomatic outreach to highlight Pakistan's continued support for terrorism.

The Committee observed that better sense will prevail on Pakistan and it will abandon the strategy of carrying out low intensity warfare against New Delhi, which remains an insuperable obstacle to peace.
