Parliamentary panel seeks details from govt on giving in-principal approval to divest its stake in Air India

A Parliamentary panel has sought details from the government on giving in-principal approval to divest its stake in Air India. Last month,the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs gave in-principle approval for considering strategic disinvestment of Air India and five of its subsidiaries. <br/><br/>Sources said, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture on Wednesday will hear the views of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management and Air India on the disinvestment on Wednesday.<br/><br/>Earlier the committee had discussed the government's decision at its meeting held 5th of this month and later decided to seek details on the same. Modalities are being worked out for the proposed divestment to revive the debt-ridden national carrier.
