Parliamentary panel recommends govt to setup one forensic laboratory in every state

A parliamentary panel recommended the Ministry of Home Affairs to setup one forensic laboratory in every state capital in the country within 2 years' time. <br />'' <br />'' The committee felt that a strong network of forensic laboratories is of utmost necessity as the forensic evidence is of crucial importance in convicting the offenders. Parliamentary Standing committee on the Human Resources Development headed by Dr. Satyanarayan Jatiya tabled its report in the Parliament today.<br />''<br />'' The committee in its report said that currently the conviction rate is only 32% against the filing of chargesheets in 86.6% of rape cases. <br />'' <br />'' Establishing a forensic laboratory would help the prosecution in building a strong case against the offenders as with the collection of evidence the conviction rate would certainly go up.<br />''
