Parliamentary panel asks govt to expedite decision on wheat, rice export

A Parliamentary panel has asked the government to expedite the decision on lifting the ban on export of wheat and premium quality non-basmati rice, while expressing displeasure over the wastage of foodgrain. AIR correspondent reports, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce in its 19th report said, Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) should expedite the decision on the possibility of export of wheat and rice in view of the huge availability of stocks over and above the buffer stocks and increasing pressure on procuring agencies on account of storage.
