Parliamentary Committee recommends Centre to facilitate measures for farmers to ensure diversion of lands for oilseed cultivation

<span style="color: #222222;">A Parliamentary Committee has called for making earnest efforts to enhance oilseed output by increasing the cultivation of palm oil, soya bean, sunflower and mustard crops saying they would augur well in achieving the exportable edible oil. <br />''<br />''The Committee on Commerce also recommended that the Centre should handhold the states that are endeavouring to make the country self-sustainable in palm oil production.<br />''<br />''The Committee headed by V. Vijaysai Reddy which tabled the report in Parliament today observed that the over-dependence of the country on import of edible oil has been a major factor in the exorbitant rise in their prices. It said that edible oil is a basic commodity of the Indian households which needs self-sufficiency in its availability throughout the year.  <br />''     <br />''The Committee also recommends that Government should facilitate measures for incentivising farmers to ensure effortless diversion of lands for oilseed cultivation.</span><br />
