Parliamentarians pay tributes to G.V. Mavalankar

Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan and several other members of Parliament today offered floral tributes to former Speaker of Lok Sabha, G.V. Mavalankar in the Central Hall of Parliament House on his birth anniversary. <br/><br/>Minister of State of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs, S.S. Ahluwalia, former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani were among those who offered tribute to G V Mavalankar. G V Mavalankar had a vast parliamentary experience and commendable knowledge of parliamentary practices and procedures. <br/><br/>He began his legislative career in 1937 in the then Bombay Legislative Assembly, where he was elected the Speaker. He was elected as the Speaker of the first Lok Sabha on 15 May 1952 and remained in office till 27 February, 1956.
