Government and opposition have reached an agreement to have a discussion in both the Houses of Parliament on the Sports Minister's statement on the CAG report on Commonwealth Games tomorrow. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said, that the discussion in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will be taken under a rule which does not provide for voting.Replying questions from the reporters Mr. Bansal said that government reached all opposition parties to resolve the issue so as to ensure smooth functioning of parliament. Opposition today stalled proceedings in both the Houses, seeking resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit for her alleged indictment in the CAG report on Commonwealth Games.Sports Minister Ajay Maken stood by his statement saying that host city agreement signed during NDA regime led to the election of Suresh Kalmadi as Chairman of the Organising committee for the Commonwealth Games. He however, alleged that opposition did not allow him to elaborate on the statement in the Rajya Sabha.Defending strongly, Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit, the Congress Party and the government maintained there is nothing objectionable against her in the CAG report. Delhi Transport Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said neither the Chief Minister nor any political functionary has been indicted by the CAG.Union Minister Kapil Sibbal while defending Delhi Chief Minister said that CAG report does not indict Prime Minister's office. He told reporters that government wants discussion on every important issue but opposition too has a responsibility towards Parliament's functioning.Congress charged BJP with adopting dual standards on CAG report. The party spokesman Manish Tiwari reiterated that government had no role in appointment of Suresh Kalmadi as Chief of the Organising commitee.The BJP on the other hand, charged the Sports Minister Ajay Maken with misleading Parliament for revealing only selective facts of the CAG report on Commonwealth Games. Party leader Yashwant Sinha rejected government's allegation that Suresh Kalmadi was appointed chief of the Organising committee in NDA regime.
