Parliament to debate Lokpal Bill, Jan Lokpal Bill & other suggestions today

The Parliament will discuss Lokpal Bill along with Jan Lokpal Bill and other suggestions in this regard today. Briefing newsmen on Friday night, the leader of the House in Lok Sabha, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said that the House will debate the bill after he initiates it.He said that he will first give his speech in Lok Sabha and after that the discussion will follow. Mr. Mukherjee once again urged social activist Anna Hazare to end his fast.AIR correspondent reports that Mr. Mukherjee will address the Lok Sabha at 11.00 AM. The Rjaya Sabga will take up the debate at 12.00 noon.Amid demands from Team Anna, a move to take up a discussion in the Lok Sabha on the Lokpal issue turned contentious with BJP-led NDA opposing the debate under rule 193, which does not entail voting, forcing adjournment of the House for an hour.Later briefing newsmen, Mrs. Susma Swaraj alleged that the goverment is taking such a serious matter very casually.AIR correspondent reports the main ruling Congress and the opposition BJP got divided on the mode of the debate on Anna Hazare's Jan Lokpal and documents prepared by NGO activist Aruna Roy and Dr. Jai Prakash Narain of Lok Satta party.While the government is in favour of discussions under a rule which does not provide for voting, the opposition BJP has moved a resolution for discussion which entails voting.The Congress resolution has been moved by Sandeep Dikshit while the opposition notice has been given by the leader of the Opposition Mrs. Sushma Swaraj.In Rajya Sabha, similar motion has been moved by the leader of Opposition Arun Jaitley. Talking to newsmen late last night Mr. Jaitley said that his focus would be on three points raised in Jan Lokpal Bill which seeks lower bureaucracy under Lokpal, Lokayukat in states and citizens charter.Meanwhile, Team Anna has said that if the resolution is moved in Parliament which satisfies Anna Hazare, the Gandhian will break his fast.
