Both the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday took up the discussion on corruption. While the Opposition alleged that government has not taken enough measures to deal with the menace, the ruling party while dismissing the Opposition charge maintained that all governments are responsible for the menace.Initiating the debate in the Lok Sabha, BJP leader Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi urged the government to take effective measures to deal with the menace. He cited examples of various cases of corruption and sought a response from the government.Dr. Joshi asserted that black money stashed in foreign banks should be brought back and the culprits should be punished. He also alleged that in the last several years, the menace of corruption at the Centre and in States has risen to alarming proportions.Participating in the debate the Congress member K.S. Rao said all governments are responsible for the level of corruption.Dismissing opposition charge, Mr. Rao said that government has taken effective action whenever a case of malpractice or corruption has come to its notice. He urged the Parliamentarians to rise above narrow political consideration to fight the menace.Referring to the sincerity of the government he said Prime Minister himself has offered to be covered under the ambit of Lokpal Bill. The discussion is continuing.Initiating the debate in the Rajya Sabha the leader of the Opposition Arun Jaitley urged the government to have a serious look into the Lokpal Bill. He called upon them to sit with an open mind to resolve the challenge posed by the Civil society group led by Anna Hazare. He said government can work out a solution and adequately respond to the public anger against corruption.
