Government today said it is against throwing open proceedings of the Parliamentary Standing Committees before media as it could hamper free discussions of issues besides creating logistical problems. <br/>Speaking at a workshop on Parliament and Media, Parliamentary Affairs Minister P K Bansal told the proceedings of the Standing Committees should not be thrown open to media because the quality of debate and discussion that goes on in the committees may suffer due to it. <br/>The Leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha Mr Arun Jaitley underlined the need for evolving a system to teach new members in both Houses how to draft questions.<br/>Mr Jaitley said the disinterest of the media towards serious Parliamentary debate must end.<br/>
