Parliament proceedings: Both houses adjourned following opposition demand sacking MoS Home Ajay Kumar Mishra & revocation of 12 suspended MPs

<span style="color: #222222;">Both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day following opposition uproar on various issues. The Lok Sabha witnessed one adjournment before it was finally adjourned for the day while Rajya Sabha faced thrice before adjourning it for the day.  In the Lok Sabha, opposition members pressed the demand of removal of Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra from the council of ministers over SIT report on Lakhimpur Kheri incident.<br />'' <br />'' In the Lok Sabha,  when the House assembled at 2 pm after the first adjournment,  the situation was no different as agitating members continued their protest over their demand. The agitating members again trooped in the well of the House.<br />'' <br />'' The Chair appealed to the opposition members to let the House function but in vain. The protesting members continued sloganeering. As the chaotic scene continued the House was adjourned for the day.<br />'' <br />'' Earlier, when the Lower House assembled for the day at 11 AM,  TR Balu of DMK raised the issue of SIT report in Lakhimpur Kheri incident.<br />'' <br />'' Referring to the SIT report and alleged involvement of the minister's son Mr. Balu demanded removal of the Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra. Opposition members from Congress and DMK trooped into the well and started sloganeering.<br />'' <br />'' Speaker Om Birla appealed to the agitating members to raise the issue after the Question Hour and let the House run.<br />'' <br />'' Amid din, the Speaker tried to run the Question Hour but in vain.<br />'' <br />'' Parliamentary Affairs minister Pralhad Joshi appealed to the members to wear masks in the House as the threat of Covid has not receded.<br />'' <br />'' Amid the chaotic scene, the Speaker had to adjourn the House till 2 pm.<br />'' <br />'' In the Rajya Sabha, the House was first adjourned till 12 Noon following uproarious scene by the opposition members over the issue of suspension of 12 members from the Winter Session of the Parliament. When the House assembled for the day,  Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu tried to run the Zero Hour but the opposition members raised this issue and demanded revocation of suspension. The Chair appealed to the agitating members to allow the House to take up Zero Hour as it is very important. Amid din, Mr. Naidu adjourned the House till 12 noon.<br />'' <br />'' When the Rajya Sabha reassembled at 12 Noon after the first adjournment, Deputy Chairman Harivansh started the Question Hour but the opposition members again raised the demand of revocation of suspension of members.  Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari tried to respond to the questions asked by the members during Question Hour. Due to the noisy scene, the Deputy Chairman had to adjourn the House till 2 PM.<br />'' <br />'' When the Rajya Sabha reassembled after the second adjournment at 2 PM to take up short duration discussion on the situation arising out of cases of Omicron variant of COVID-19 virus in the country, the agitating opposition members again raised their issue. Amid noisy scenes, Deputy Chairman Harivansh adjourned the House till 2.18 PM.<br />'' <br />'' When the House reassembled after the third adjournment, the Chair asked the TMC member Sushmita Dev to start the discussion but she demanded that 12 members who have been suspended also want to participate in the discussion so their suspension should be revoked.  Leader of the House Piyush Goyal said that the suspended members should apologize for their unruly behavior on the last day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament. He said, these members have not even expressed regret for their conduct. Amid the opposition uproar, the short duration of discussion started. Raising the discussion, G K Vasan of Tamil Manila Congress (M) stressed that people should strictly adhere to the Coivd appropriate behavior. He also sought to know from the government about the plan of preparedness for a booster dose in view of the new variant. Initiating the discussion, Shiv Pratap Shukla of BJP said,  to check the spread of Covid-19, the government of India came out with two indigenously developed vaccines Covishield and Covaxin, and majority of the population of the country have so far received the first dose of the Covid vaccine. Mr Shukla said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking all adequate steps to check the spread of new variant Omicron. The BJP member also emphasized that those who have not taken vaccines so far should immediately get inoculated.<br />''<br />''Participating in the discussion, Syed Zafar Islam of BJP questioned the conduct of agitating opposition members why they are not participating in the debate on such an important issue.  Mr. Islam also sought to know from the Union Health Minister whether the children who have not been administered Covid vaccine are safe. In the meantime, Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi appealed to the agitating members to participate in such an important debate. He said, the government is open to consider the opposition's request to revoke the suspension of 12 members from the House.  Navaneethakrishnan of AIADMK and Ram Nath Thakur of JD(U) also participated in the discussion. The discussion remained inconclusive.</span>
