Parliament pays tribute to valiant security forces for their exemplary courage against terrorist

Both Houses of Parliament today reiterated their resolve to fight unitedly against terrorism in all its forms. While condemning the Mumbai Terror attack that killed a large number of people on this day two years ago, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha paid tributes to the valiant security forces who showed exemplary courage against the terrorists. In the Lok Sabha, the Speaker Mrs. Meira Kumar said that it was the sheer grit of determined Indians that enabled the nation to face the crisis and move ahead with resoluteness. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of those killed by terrorists in the attack. In the Rajya Sabha, the Chairman, Mohammed Hamid Ansari called for rededication to protect the country's sovereignty and integrity. The Upper House also observed silence as a mark of respect in the memory of those killed in the bridge stampede accident in Phnom Penh in Cambodia on Tuesday. Three hundred and thirty nine people were killed in the accident. The two houses were later adjourned for one hour following uproar by the opposition demand for a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum scam. In the Lok Sabha, Putul Devi, wife of late Union Minister, Digvijay Singh, took oath of office as a member of the house. She was elected as an Independent in the bye-election to the Banka Parliamentary constituency in Bihar.
