Parliament has passed the Lokpal and Lokayukta Amendment Bill 2016 with the Rajya Sabha approving it today. The bill seeks to amend section 44 of the existing Act to allow extension of the time given to public servants. <br/><br/>Presently, they have to furnish details of assets and liabilities within 30 days of joining the government service. As per the amendment, the period of 30 days has been removed and now the public servants will be bound to make declaration of their assets and liabilities in the form and manner as prescribed by government. The Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha yesterday.
