Parliament has passed the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy Bill with the Rajya Sabha approving it on Wednesday. <br/><br/>The bill establishes the Institute at Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and declares it as an institution of national importance. <br/><br/>The Institute aims at providing high quality education and research focusing on the themes of petroleum, hydrocarbons and energy. <br/><br/>Replying to the discussion on the Bill, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said the institution will be totally autonomous and academics session has already been started. <br/><br/>Earlier initiating the discussion, P L Punia of Congress supported the bill and said shell gas should be promoted in the country because it has lot of opportunity.
