The alleged involvement of businessman Robert Vadra in land deals in Haryana rocked the proceedings in both the Houses of Parliament today. The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha witnessed repeated adjournments over the issue throughout the day. As soon as both the Houses met for the day, BJP members raised slogans against Vadra, which was countered by the ruling party members. In the Rajya Sabha, the BJP members insisted on an immediate discussion on the issue, but the Chair rejected their demand.
In the Lok Sabha also, the proceedings were frequently disrupted when the BJP members raised the same issue time and again. But the ruling party members were quick to counter their allegations. Amidst the din, Mr.Yashwant Sinha was heard saying that a highly connected person in the country has been making money in land deals in Haryana and also advising people to earn money without investments.
Another BJP Member, Yogi Adityanath referred to the violence in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir alleging that a particular community was being forced to leave the place. Mr.Lal Singh of the Congress asked the Government to enhance the compensation amount to the victims of arson in Kishtwar. The Left Front members demanded the withdrawal of BSF from Kerala.
The Lok Sabha was adjourned after taking up the National Food Security Bill for consideration. Before being adjourned for the day, the House witnessed noisy scenes over the Telengana issue by Telegu Desam Party members.
