Parliament ataatck Anniversary: Hamid Ansari recalls brave deeds of security personnel

Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari has said the 10th of December marks the Anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. <br/><br/>Making a reference in the House today, Mr. Ansari said the day is celebrated across the world as Human Rights Day. He said the milestone document which for the first time laid out the universal protection of fundamental human rights for all, remains as much relevant today and will remain so forever.<br/><br/> He said that the emphasis of the theme is Stand up for someone's rights today. Chairman said India, as a nation, has cherished the values of equality, non-discrimination, fairness and freedom of all human beings and stood up for peace and harmony among all. <br/><br/>Mr Ansari said the 13th of December marks the 15th anniversary of the dastardly attack on Parliament House by terrorists and recalled the brave deeds of the security personnel including two persons from Parliament Security Service of the Rajya Sabha, five Delhi Police Personnel and a woman constable of the Central Reserve Police Force, who laid down their lives while preventing entry of terrorists inside the Parliament House Building. <br/><br/>The Chairman said the occasion calls for unequivocal condemnation of growing menace of terrorism in the country and across the world. <br/><br/>The House observed silence as a mark of respect to the memory of those who lost their lives in the tragedy.
