Parliament has passed a bill that seeks to provide registration and regulate clinical establishments in the country. The Rajya Sabha passed the bill today while the Lok Sabha has passed it earlier. Replying the debate on the bill, the Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the passage of the bill will generate authentic data regarding clinical establishments and facilities available in every nook and corner and help the nation to build up a national registry of health infrastructure available.The Bill initially applies to Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Sikkim and all Union Territories. He said he had written to Chief Ministers of various states to adopt this Bill and they had responded positively like the four states whose respective legislatures had passed a resolution authorising the Parliament to pass such a legislation. He said the legislation will also enable the government to categorise the patients in various categories.
