Parliament adjourns for 21st working day

Proceedings in both the houses of Parliament were disrupted for the 21st working day today over the issue of opposition demand for a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum scam. The issue continued to rock the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha as the standoff between the opposition and the government could not be resolved with both sides sticking to their positions. The Rajya Sabha even witnessed an incident of snatching of papers from the Chair in the post-lunch session when the private members business was scheduled to be taken up. Tempers ran high in the house when Rudra Narayana Pany of the BJP, snatched the papers from the Vice Chairman, Prof. P J Kurien, who named the list of private members business. As the pandemonium continued, the house was finally adjourned for the day. Earlier, the Upper House was first adjourned till noon and then till 2.30PM and finally for the day. The Lok Sabha also saw repeated adjournments, first till noon and then till 3.30 PM and finally for the day. Both the houses will meet on Monday.
