Parliament adjourned till noon on Telangana, other issues

Both the Houses of Parliament have been adjourned till noon on Telangana and other issues. As soon as the Lok Sabha met, members belonging to Seemandhra region of Andhra Pradesh trooped into the well with a demand that the State be kept United. JD(U) members raised slogans demanding special status to Bihar. Members from Tamil Nadu were also seen protesting on Tamil fishermen issue. Following unruly scenes, Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the House for one hour.

In the Rajya Sabha, Congress and TDP Members trooped into the well in support of United Andhra. Members from Tamil Nadu also rushed to the well demanding release of Tamil fishermen held custody by Sri Lankan Navy. Birendra Prasad Baishya of Assom Gana Parishad demanded protection of North-Eastern people living in Delhi. He also demanded a judicial probe by a Supreme Court Judge.

Despite Chairman Mohd. Hamid Ansari's assurance that the House will take up Tamil fishermen issue, noisy scenes continued forcing him to adjourn the House first for ten minutes and then till noon.
