Parliament adjourned for the day amidst noisy scenes

The Lok Sabha has been adjourned for the day while the Rajya Sabha adjourned till 2 pm, following noisy scenes in both the Houses when they reassembled after the first adjournment.

In the Lok Sabha, Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge presented Railway Budget for 2014-15 and Demand of Grants amidst pandemonium. Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the House after presentation of Rail Budget, as noisy scenes continued in the House.

Even before the Railway Minister commenced his Budget speech, Congress, TDP and YSR Congress members from Seemandhra region rushed into the well and raised slogans in support of United Andhra. Union Minister including Purandeswari, Chiranjeevee, K.S. Rao and K. Suryaprakash Reddy were also in the well on the issue.

At the same time, Congress and Telangana Rashtra Samiti members also trooped into the well in support of their demand. The slogan shouting by members from both the regions reached such a feverish pitch that Railway Minister's speech could not be heard in the din.

At one stage tension prevailed in the House with heated argument with TRS and Congress Members from Telangana. Union Minister Sharad Pawar intervened and brought the situation under control.

However, Railway Minister could not continue the speech as members from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal also trooped into the well alleging that justice was not rendered to their respective States in the Rail Budget.

Some agitated members tore the budget copy and tossed them all over. Following pandemonium in the House, the Railway Minister finished the budget speech half way. Later, Meira Kumar adjourned the House for the day.

Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge placed the interim railway budget in the Rajya Sabha amidst noisy scenes. As soon as the House reassembled after second adjournment at 2 pm, the Railway Minister placed the copy of the budget and demanded for grants.

The Dy. Chairman P J Kurien adjourned the House for the day as the pandemonium continued in the House.

Earlier the Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till 2 pm, following noisy protest from different political parties on several issues including Telangana, arrest of Tamil Fishermen and violence against women.

As soon as the House reassembled after first adjournment situation was not different. Andhra Pradesh members trooped into the well raising slogans in pro and against of Telangana. DMK Members were also in the well demanding release of Tamil fishermen from Sri Lankan Navy.

AIADMK Members continued their protest for allegedly naming their party members for trooping into the well last week. Left Members showed placards and raised slogans for countrywide strike of Central government employees. Members were also shown placards seeking strict action against accused involved in women violence activities.

Few Members from Treasury Bench were also on their feet raising slogans but it could not be heard in the din. Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien allowed laying of papers amidst the din and he adjourned the House as noisy scenes continued.
