Parliament adjourned for the day

Samajwadi Party members today forced the adjournment of the Rajya Sabha for the day even as the House took up the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Bill for consideration and passing. The House witnessed three adjournments earlier as SP members continued to raise slogans against the rising prices of essential commodities. Two members from Telugu Desam Party also trooped into the well opposing the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

When the House re-assembled at 3.30 PM after third adjournment, SP members again rushed to the well raising slogans. Naresh Agarwal of SP wanted the House to discuss price rise, which was rejected by the Chair. As the noisy scenes continued, Deputy Chairman P J Kurien cautioned the agitating members to go back to their seats and let there be a discussion on the Lokpal bill. He also said that he will be forced to take action against them. Later, he adjourned the House till Monday.

The Lok Sabha also witnessed noisy scenes with members from TDP and YSR Congress rushing to the well in support of their demand for United Andhra Pradesh. Members from Samajwadi Party and RJD also trooped into the well on different issues. The House witnessed two adjournments before adjourning finally for the day at 1 PM.
