Proceeding in both the houses of Parliament were stalled for the second day today on the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and a host of other issues including reservation in promotion for SCs and STs. The two Houses could not transact much business except the laying of papers.
The Lok Sabha witnessed two adjournments before the house was adjourned for the day. Opposition members were shouting slogans to rollback FDI in the multi-brand retail sector.
The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day at 2.30 PM as BSP members continued to shout slogans demanding passage of bill providing for reservation in promotion to the SCs and STs. The House witnessed two adjournments in the pre-launch session. Earlier, SP, members demanded the rollback of prices of cooking gas .
AIR’s Parliamentary Correspondent reports in the midst of din, the vice Chairman E M S Nachiappan allowed tabling a report of the select Committee of the Upper House on the Lokpal and Lokayukta Bill 2011. The Rajya Sabha took up privet members bills before being adjourned for the day. Both the houses will now meet on Monday.
