The Lok Sabha was today adjourned almost 20 minutes before the usual time of adjournment at 6 PM due to lack of quorum when the House was discussing on a private member's bill on compulsory voting. During the debate, N K Premachandran of RSP raised an objection over inadequate attendance of member as the minimum requirement of members to fulfill the quorum is 55. In fact, the RSP Member was dissatisfied over further extension in the stipulated time for the debate on the Compulsory Voting Bill, moved by Janardan Sigriwal of BJP.<br/><br/>When the Presiding Officer Hukumdev Narayan Yadav announced further extension of time for debate on the Bill,Mr Premchandran said, the extension of time is delaying introduction of his bill on problems and issues of transgenders. However, Nishikant Dubey of BJP contested the member argument saying that , the Chair can extend time after seeking consensus. Not satisfied, the member raised the issue of quorum and after waiting for few minutes ,the Presiding Officer had to adjourn the House for want of quorum. <br/><br/>The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day today for want of quorum. When the House re-assembled after lunch at 2.30 PM, Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien asked members to move private members legislative business today being Friday. When he was pointed out about the quorum, it was found that there is no quorum after counting of members. <br/><br/>Earlier, the House witnessed three adjournments on the political crisis in Arunachal Pradesh. Members belonging to AIADMK, TMC and Left parties supported the Congress demand for the recall of the Governor. Rajya Sabha Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari has admitted substantive motions moved by opposition parties to discuss the political developments in Arunachal Pradesh. <br/><br/>Announcing this during zero hour, Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien said only time has to be fixed for discussion on the motions. Raising the matter, Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad demanded the recall of the Governor following Guwahati High Court observations. He said media and the entire country are discussing the governor's issue.<br/><br/>The House remained paralysed for the fourth day on the issue and could not transact any legislative business. In the last week also, National Herald case rocked the House leading to repeated adjournments and no substantial business.
