Parliament adjourned for 20th consecutive day

Proceedings in both houses of Parliament were disrupted for the 20th working day in a row as the standoff between the Opposition and the government over a JPC probe into 2G spectrum scam remains unresolved. Both the Houses had to be adjourned till tomorrow with an unrelenting Opposition refusing to let the houses continue with their business. As has been the case all these days, today also the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were first adjourned till noon and then for the day following uproar over the issue after laying of papers. AIR correspondents report that with just two working days left for the Winter Session of Parliament to end, no solution is yet in sight to break the logjam over the issue. While the government has rejected the demand for JPC probe, the Opposition refuses to settle for anything less than that. The leader of the Lok Sabha, Pranab Mukherjee told reporters outside Parliament that he has nothing else to say except that the deadlock continues. The BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu said the probe by the PAC and monitoring of the investigations by the Supreme Court is not enough and they will continue with their demand for a probe by JPC.
