Parliament adjourned as opposition creates uproar demanding suspension of Question Hour to discuss corruption

Both the Houses of the Parliament have been adjourned for one hour after opposition members demanded suspension of Question Hour to take up discussion on corruption issues. In the Lok Sabha, the Leader of the opposition, Ms Sushma Swaraj demanded discussion on the situation arising out of protests in many parts of the country. As noisy scenes continued despite the Speaker's assurance that she will allow discussion later in the day, the Members raised their pitch. The Speaker adjourned the House till 12 noon. In the Rajya Sabha, as soon as the House met for the day, Opposition Members demanded suspension of Question Hour to take up discussion on the issue of corruption. The Members continued to press for their demand in spite of repeated requests from the Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari. As the Members raised their pitch, the Chair adjourned the House for one hour.
