Parliament adjourned amidst pandemonium on alleged corruption in CWG, 2-G & Adarsh Housing

Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day today following pandemonium over alleged corruption in Commonwealth Games, Adarash housing society and 2 G Spectrum. The BJP-led opposition wanted nothing less than a probe by Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) in various scams. The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned twice, first till 12 and then for the day.In reply to a question from the media outside parliament on the opposition demand, Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said the matter regarding the Adarsh Housing Society is in the domain of Maharashtra Government and the Centre has nothing to do with the scam. He said, there is an Assembly in the state to deal with it . He said, Parliament is meant to discuss and debate on the issues directly related to the Centre. On the alleged 2G scam, Mr Mukherjee said government has already instituted an inquiry. With regard to CAG reported observation about irregularities in allocation of 2G spectrum, he said there is clear provisions in the Constitution and constitutional provisions will be followed. Meanwhile, the BJP has given notices for the setting up of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe the 2G spectrum allocation, Commonwealth Games and Adarsh Housing Society scams.The notices were given by Mrs Sushma Swaraj in the Lok Sabha and Mr Arun Jaitley in the Rajya Sabha. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Party spokesman, Mr S S Ahluwalia said the BJP will continue to press for the demand till the government agrees to do so. The Congress on the other hand charged the BJP-led opposition with adopting obstructive tactics to stall the proceedings of Parliament. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Party spokesperson, Mrs Jayanti Natarajan called upon the opposition parties to come forward and discuss the issues in Parliament.
