Parl to be adjourned sine die; no nod from pol parties for extension: Kamal Nath

Parliament will be adjourned sine die this afternoon. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath told reporters that government's intention was to extend the current session for few days to pass the pending anti-graft bills.

He said, he tried to persuade the political parties to agree for extension but they declined. He said government held several rounds of meetings with political parties but yielded no result.

The Minister said, the passage of these bills was very much necessary to strengthen the anti-corruption framework in the country. Kamal Nath said, the government will discuss the issuance of Ordinance with the President as legislation to fight corruption is essential.

Replying to a question on pending anti-corruption bills, Mr Nath said these are pending before Parliament since 2010. The Standing Committees have already given unanimous opinions on these bills.
