Parl standoff:Centre hopes Opp will join in ensuring functioning of House

After the standoff between the main opposition and the government on CAG's report on Coal block allocation continued on the third day yesterday, the Centre has expressed the hope that the opposition will join in ensuring proper functioning of Parliament. Law Minister Salman Khurshid hoped that the opposition will come back, after all they were the ones who raised the issue.

BJP President Nitin Gadkari said that the party is fully prepared to take on the government on the issue of coal blocks allocation and other controversial issues that led to loss of crores of rupees from the public exchequer.

The CPI(M) has demanded a full probe into the alleged corruption in coal block allocation and fix responsibility. Party leader, Sitaram Yechuri said in New Delhi that the party will decide its future course of action on the issue on the basis of a statement, the Prime Minister may make on the matter.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress Chief and West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamta Banerjee has suggested convening an all party meeting to resolve the present impasse.
