Parl Panel invites suggestions on delay in filling judicial vacancies

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice has sought views from the public on the delay in filling vacancies in the Supreme Court and in High Courts. <br/><br/>In a release the Rajya Sabha Secretariat said, about 42 percent of sanctioned posts in the higher judiciary are lying vacant for quite sometime and such a large number of vacancies is alarming in nature and has a direct relation upon the access to justice for common people. <br/><br/>It said, the Committee intends to address systemic deficiency in judicial appointments and suggest improvements to streamline the procedure and process for appointment in higher judiciary.<br/><br/>The suggestions can be sent through email to rs-cpers@sansad.nic.in or through post to Sunita Sekaran, Director Rajya Sabha Secretariat at Room No. 145, First Floor, Parliament House Annexe, New Delhi. The release said, that the memoranda submitted to the Committee shall be treated as confidential.
