A Parliamentary Panel has expressed reservation on the Enemy Property Amendment and Validation Bill.
It has suggested that while giving a new shape and face to the proposed law, the interests of thousands of tenants should not be ignored.
The Committee headed by M Venkiah Naidu submitted its report to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Mohammad Hamid Ansari in New Delhi today.
The panel has opined that the government should reconsider the bill by keeping national interest in mind.
Home Minister P Chidambaram has contended that the powers of the custodian of enemy properties have somewhat been diluted by court rulings and these need to be restored.
The panel has recommended completion of fencing, flood lighting and construction of roads along the Indo-Pak border in Gujarat and Firozpur sector of Punjab.
