Parliament gave its seal of approval to the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2012 with the Rajya Sabha adopting it today. The Lok Sabha had passed the measure on the 30th of last month. The bill provides for operationalization of all the six new AIIMS-like institutes from 15th of this month. It was passed amidst opposition uproar as the BJP continued to raise slogans demanding the Prime Minister's resignation on the coal blocks allocation issue.
