Parl adjourned till noon over coal block issue

Both the Houses of Parliament have been adjourned till noon today as the BJP members continued to agitate over the issue of coal block allocation.

As soon as the Lok Sabha met for the day, the BJP members rushed to the well of the House raising slogans demanding the Prime Minister's resignation. Some of the DMK members displayed placards opposing the visit of the Sri Lankan President.

As the noisy scenes continued, Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the House till noon. Earlier, the House congratulated Girish Hosangara Nagarajagowda on his winning a Silver Medal in the London Paralympic Games 2012.

The Rajya Sabha also witnessed noisy scenes as the House met for the day. Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari made an appeal to the agitating BJP members to allow the Question Hour. He said for a change, let the Question Hour be held. However, the din continued, forcing him to adjourn the House for one hour.

Earlier, the House paid rich tributes to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first Chairman of the Upper House and former President, to mark his birth anniversary, which is observed as Teacher's Day today.
