Parl adjourned over coal block issue

Both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day today on coal blocks allocation issue with the opposition insisting on the Prime Minister's resignation. The Lok Sabha, which was adjourned for an hour till noon, was adjourned for the day after it reassembled at 12 noon.

The Rajya Sabha witnessed two adjournments in the pre-lunch session before adjourning for the day. As the BJP members continued to troop into the well of the House shouting slogans against the government, the Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien, adjourned the House when it again met at 2 PM.
In the midst of the noisy scenes by the BJP members, the Lok Sabha has passed two bills without discussion.

One bill is related to the beginning of the academic session in all the six newly started All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-like institutes in the country from next month. The other was the Chemical Weapons (Amendment) Bill.

In the Rajya Sabha, the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Mr Sudip Bandyopadhyay, laid his statement in response to a Calling Attention notice on the situation arising out of the casualties during clinical trials.
