Both the Houses of Parliament have been adjourned for the day today following uproar by BJP members demanding the Prime Minister's resignation on the issue of coal blocks allocation. Dr. Manmohan Singh made a statement in the pre- lunch session on the CAG report on allocation of coal blocks in both the houses that witnessed several adjournments amid noisy scenes.
The Lok Sabha was adjourned first for one hour till Noon. When the house reassembled, Speaker Meira Kumar rushed through the laying of papers. As uproar continued, the house was adjourned till 2 PM after Dr. Singh's statement. The scene was no different when Lok sabha met again at 2 pm with BJP led NDA members shouting slogans in the well of the house. As the din continued, the Chair adjourned the house for the day.
The Rajya Sabha also witnessed four adjournments today on the same issue. Following noisy scenes, Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien adjourned the House for half-an-hour till 1230 Hours. Later, as soon as the House re-assembled, Dr Singh made a similar statement in the House amidst slogan shouting by BJP members and the House was adjourned till 2 PM. When the house reassembled the uproar continued forcing the chair to adjourn the house for the day.
It is for the fifth day, parliament proceedings are being stalled by the BJP led opposition on the issue of CAG report on coal block allocation.
