Parl adjourned for second time till 2PM over coal block issue

Both the Houses of Parliament have been adjourned for the second time till 2 p.m. today over the coal blocks allocation issue. As soon as the Lok Sabha reassembled after its first adjournment at 12 PM, the BJP members rushed into the well demanding the Prime Minister's resignation. This time, the Treasury Bench members also countered them by shouting. Amidst the uproar, Speaker Meira Kumar allowed the laying of papers. But, when her appeal for order went unheeded, she adjourned the House till 2 p.m.
The scene was no different in the Rajya Sabha also. The BJP members surged into the well shouting slogans as soon as the House reassembled. Some DMK members displayed placards opposing the training of the Sri Lankan Army personnel in India. Following the continued noisy scenes, Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurein adjourned the House till 2 p.m.In between, papers were tabled in the House.

Government today said that all efforts are being made to end the stalemate in Parliament. Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mr Rajiv Shukla said that presiding officers, Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Chairman are making efforts to run the Parliament. Mr Shukla alleged that the main opposition BJP is adamant not to allow both the houses to function. Mr.Shukla also alleged that BJP is trying avoid a debate in Parliament because they fear that their chief ministers may also come under scanner on the coal allocation issue.
