Both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day today as the opposition continued to disrupt the proceedings on several issues including the rollback on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the retail sector and giving subsidy to LPG cylinders.
As soon as the Lok Sabha met after its hour-long adjournment, members from Trinamool Congress rushed to the well of the House shouting slogans demanding 24 subsidized cooking gas cylinders.
BJP members were on their toes demanding the rollback of FDI in retail. Amidst din, Presiding Officer Girija Vyas allowed the laying of papers and introduction of the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2012 by Human Resource Development Minister M M Pallam Raju before adjourning the House for the day.
Rajya Sabha, when it re-assembled after the first adjournment, also witnessed noisy scenes with Samajwadi Party members rushing to the well of the House raising slogans opposing the proposed reservation in promotions for SCs and STs. Amidst noisy scenes, Vice Chairman E M S Nachiappan adjourned the House to meet tomorrow.
AIR Correspondent reports this is for the third day when the proceedings in both the Houses were disrupted.
