Paris deal on climate change vindicated India's stand: Javadekar

Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar has said that Paris Agreement on climate change has vindicated India's stand and accepted it's all major requirements. India has been a strong advocate of an ambitious and durable agreement based on the principles of equity and common but differentiated responsibilities.<br/><br/>Making a suo-moto statement in the Lok Sabha, Mr Javadekar said, the agreement recognizes the development imperatives of India and other developing countries. The Minister said, the agreement supports the right of development and efforts to harmonize development with environment while protecting the interest of the most vulnerable. <br/><br/>It also recognizes the need for greater action by developed countries based on their historical responsibility and economic status. The Minister represented India in Conference of Parties under United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change which adopted agreement on 12th of this month.
