Paris climate deal a turning point for planet: Barack Obama

US President Barack Obama has said that Paris agreement on climate change is a turning point for protecting the planet for future generations by avoiding some of the worst consequences of global warming. He said today is a historic day in the fight to protect our planet for future generations and the world has officially crossed the threshold for the Paris Agreement to take effect. Obama said in his remarks at the Rose Garden of the White House yesterday that Paris Agreement, however, alone will not solve the climate crisis. <br/><br/>The United Nations has announced that the Paris Agreement on climate change will come into force on November 4th. The deal takes effect 30 days after more than 55 countries representing, over 55 percent of global greenhouse emissions have ratified it. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon issued a statement saying strong international support for the Paris Agreement entering into force is a testament to the urgency for action.
