Paramilitary recruitment:Govt mulling relaxing edu qualification for youth from naxal-hit states

Government is considering reducing the educational qualification for employing local youth of Naxal affected States into paramilitary forces. In his first ever press conference in New Delhi yesterday , after taking over charge of the Home Ministry, Mr Sushil Kumar Shinde said, this is being considered on the line of recruitment done in Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr Shinde said that he is also considering new posts for intelligence gathering. The Minister, however said that the Intelligence Bureau, IB is also doing a wonderful job but these posts will be created as a subsidary of IB. Mr Shinde said that the main purpose is that the people collecting intelligence are not identified.

Speaking about the formation of National Counter Terrorism Centre, NCTC, he said, Chief Ministers of all States would be taken into confidence. The Minister said that he will discuss the issue with all States and will try to resolve their apprehensions.

In reply to a question regarding agitation against the Kodakulam Nuclear Plant, Mr Shinde said that some foriegn NGOs are involved in it and are supporting their movement. He said that the government is aware of it and appropriate action will be taken against them.
